COVID-19 Winery Updates

At Peller Estates, Trius Winery, Wayne Gretzky Estates, Thirty Bench, and Riverbend Inn our number one priority is the health and safety of our guests, staff members and the community. We are following direction from Health Canada, and monitoring the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation closely. We’d like to take a moment to communicate the standards we have in place to ensure the comfort, health, and wellness of our guests, employees and the community. We wish you and your family good health.

In addition to our current stringent food handling safety practices and cleanliness standards, we have implemented the following additional sanitizing precautionary measures:
- We have increased the frequency of disinfecting in all locations and shared spaces. High traffic areas such as tasting bars, cash desks and pin pads are sanitized regularly.
- We have increased the level of social distancing in our restaurants by increasing space between tables.
- In our Restaurants, tables will not be pre-set, glassware and utensils will arrive at the table after you have been seated. The payment pin pad will be sterilized after each use in the restaurant.
- We have increased the number of hand sanitizers throughout the locations.
- We are reducing any unnecessary hand contact with guests.
- Posters are located throughout the wineries to remind all guests of proper hand washing techniques.
- We have provided staff training specifically related to COVID-19 on handwashing best practices, sanitary standards, and safe work practices, requiring staff with any symptoms of any illness to remain at home.

While we respect that some guests will decide to stay home, we know that other guests will continue with their plans to visit wine country. At Peller Estates, Trius Winery, Wayne Gretzky Estates and Thirty Bench, we are monitoring the situation, and we’re committed to maintaining the highest possible standards for the safety of our guests and employees.

  • We appreciate your continued support, patience and understanding during these unprecedented times. While we look forward to welcoming you back to the winery at its full capacity when it is deemed safe to do so, we have made some adjustments in the meantime to allow for a safe visit to Wine Country. As wineries were deemed an essential service, our retail stores have remained open taking all necessary precautions to ensure the health and safety of our staff, guests and community. We will continue to follow the guidelines set in place by Public Health officials as we begin to resume tastings and experiences at the wineries.

We're excited to announce that we have resumed tastings at the winery effective immediately. It is after careful consideration and approval from the provincial government and Niagara Region Public Health that we've made this decision. Please keep in mind that there will be some changes to what we’ve known as “normal”.

    - Safety is a shared responsibility, we ask that you please practice physical distancing (remaining 6ft apart), utilize our hand-sanitation stations upon arrival, and wash your hands frequently throughout the day.
    - Reservations are required as we’ve reduced the capacities of all of our spaces.
    - Tastings can be booked for a maximum group size of 4 people. There is no opportunity to move tables together.
    - Tasting flights are individual and cannot be shared.
    - Tastings will take place outdoors ONLY at this time, if inclement weather is in the forecast we will contact you to rebook your reservation.
    - We are only accepting debit and credit transactions at this time.
    - We recommend wearing a mask while you’re visiting the winery.
    - While normally it is a joy to see your whole family at the estate with us, for the time being we are not allowing guests under 19 years of age at our experiences.

What other changes have our wineries made?
We have been closely following updates from the provincial and federal government regarding COVID-19 updates and guidelines. These have led us to make the following changes to best ensure the safety of our staff, guests and community:
    - Limited occupancy in our retail and experience spaces.
    - Implemented an attendant to ensure capacities are not breached.
    - Installed hand sanitizing stations throughout the winery.
    - Have propped doors open where possible.
    - Staff are provided with face shields or masks and gloves.
    - Implemented a designated sanitizing attendant to continuously sanitize high-touch areas including washrooms.
    - Installed plexi-glas at our cash points, directional arrows for browsing the store and two-meter floor markers at line-ups.

    What about the winery restaurants?
While we’re eager to open the doors to our winery restaurant, we’re taking the advice of Public Health officials and paying close attention to federal and provincial mandates regarding restaurant re-opening. When we are able to invite you back to dine with us, we will only be opening our outdoor dining spaces to begin. We will also be putting a variety of measures into place to help ensure the safety of our winery staff, guests and community including:
    - We will not be taking reservations at the Barrel House Grill, Whisky Patio Bar or Beer Garden.
    - Adjusted floor plans and reduced seating capacity to ensure physical distancing between guests.
    - Accepting only debit and credit transactions to begin.
    - Sanitation procedures will remain in effect, including thoroughly wiping down tables and other high-touch and -traffic areas.
    - Implemented disposable menus and menu boards.

    What about our winery events?
We pride ourselves in hosting the biggest and the best events in Wine Country! We, unfortunately, have made the difficult but necessary decision to postpone the remainder of our large events with the hopes of executing in the 2021 season. This includes Party in the Vineyard: Wine Country Fare.
We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation in Ontario and if safe to do so, we will look to host our Movie Nights in the Vineyard at Trius Winery and our passport programs at a slightly smaller scale than what our winery event fans may be used to.

Visit www.mywinecountry.com or call our Wine Country Concierge Team at 1-888-510-5537 to book your tasting today.

We look forward to safely welcoming you back to Wine Country. Our retail hours remain 11am - 6pm daily and tastings are available 11am - 5pm on the half-hour at Peller Estates, Wayne Gretzky Estates, and Trius Winery. At Thirty Bench they remain 11am - 5pm daily with tastings available 11am - 4pm daily.

    Cheers,
    Your myWineCountry team

  • Winery retail stores and Wine Country Vintners stores in Niagara-on-the-Lake are now open for wine and accessory purchases. We are offering curbside pick-up for your convenience. Tastings, tours and dining are not available.

  • After a declaration of a State of Emergency in the province of Ontario due to the COVID-19 outbreak at 8.30am March 17th, we have closed our winery restaurant effective immediately (Tuesday March 17th, 2020) until March 31st.

We have also made changes to our winery programming including no longer offering tours or tastings as well as limiting the number of guests in the retail store at a time.

Our wines will continue to be available in the retail store as well as at The Wine Shop locations throughout Ontario. We recognize that this may cause some inconvenience to our winery visitors, but it is with the health and safety of our guests, staff and community in mind that these decisions have been made.

We will continue to monitor the situation and keep you informed of changes at the winery as they occur. We thank you for your support during these challenging times and we look forward to welcoming you to the restaurant upon reopening.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our Wine Country Concierge team at 1-888-510-5537 or at info@mywinecountry.com

    - We have provided staff training specifically related to COVID-19 on handwashing best practices, sanitary standards, and safe work practices, requiring staff with any symptoms of any illness to remain at home.
    - We will no longer be accepting cash as a form of currency at the Estates. Electronic tender such as debit and credit will be the only forms.

Please feel free to contact us directly at 1-888-510-5537 or info@mywinecountry.com if you have any questions or concerns.
