Skating at Wayne Gretzky Estates

The Great One's Backyard Rink

Bring your skates to enjoy a favourite Canadian activity, and relax on the heated Whisky Bar patio as we serve up wine, cocktails and our winter menu (non-alcoholic beverages, too). Skate rentals are available on a first-come, first-served basis and helmets are mandatory for children.

  • Wayne Gretzky Estates is located at 1219 Niagara Stone Road in beautiful Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario. Located only 20 minutes from Niagara Falls, and approximately 90 minutes from Toronto along the QEW. You can also take a 12 minute flight from Billy Bishop Airport to Niagara-on-the-Lake Airport.

    Operating hours at the Whisky Bar Patio may vary depending on weather and the season; the restaurant is open year-round, except on Christmas and New Year’s Day. While umbrellas and heaters are available, they are not guaranteed, and the restaurant is weather-dependent, so please dress accordingly.

  • Reservations are not required for wine & spirit tastings. Reservations are recommended for tours, experiences, and dining at The Whisky Bar Patio in the summer.

  • Wine & Spirit tastings start at $23 for four great products from our wine and spirits portfolio. Wine Club members receive complimentary wine tastings for themselves and up to 5 guests.

  • The Estate doesn't have a fine dining restaurant, but we do have two of the BEST patios in Niagara! The Whisky Bar patio and The Garden both serve delicious food, Wayne Gretzky whisky, craft cocktails and wine. Reservations are not available for the The Garden.

    Our heated patio is open all-year round.

  • As long as weather cooperates, the rink opens in early December. Sign up for our mailing list at the bottom of this page, or follow us on Facebook and Instagram to be the first to hear about rink updates! (Rink is closed Dec 25th and January 1st.)

  • The skating rink costs $5 per person. We offer skate and helmet rentals for $10 (in limited quantities).
    Children 12 and under Free Skating and Rentals!

    Rink Rules
    · Skaters must circle in the same direction
    · Only guests with skates are permitted on the rink; please keep to the black mats when wearing skates off the ice
    · Helmets are mandatory for youth 12 and under and strongly recommended for all participants
    · Youth 12 years and younger must be supervised by an adult
    · Parents and guardians are responsible for the adequate care, protection, and supervision of their children
    · Hockey sticks, pucks, balls and nets are not permitted during public skate
    · Babies and children in strollers are not permitted on the rink
    · Food and drinks are not permitted on the rink
    · All participants must clear the rink during ice maintenance
    · Pets are not permitted on property, except trained service animals
